Overview
The most successful
class in SCCA racing is the Spec Racer Ford. The reason for this
success is due to the fact that it is a "spec class".
This means that all of the cars are identical. A driver who wins
a spec class race wins because of sheer driving skill--not because
he or she has a better car. SCCA Enterprises decided to bring the
success of their Spec Racer Ford to the exciting "formula"
class of racing. The result is the Formula SCCA car.
SCCA Enterprises joined
forces with Van Diemen to create this brand new, state-of-the-art
spec class formula car. Driver skill and cost containment is the
focal point of this class. With a single design, fixed specifications
with minimal adjustments, sealed engines, set horsepower, and equal
traction, the new Formula SCCA car offers high-end performance for
a lower cost than was previously possible.
The car is designed for the up-and-coming new driver as well as
the current formula driver looking for new, lower-cost competition.
Despite the lower cost, performance is on par with or even exceeds
some other more expensive formula cars. Additionally, the FSCCA
car's Formula 1 styling makes it one of the sexiest cars on the
track.
