500
Overview
Formula 500 is a Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) open wheel road
racing class. Formula 500 was originally introduced in the late
1960s and is currently one of the fastest growing open wheel racing
classes in the United States. Formula 500 is a spec class, which
means that modifications to the engine, drive train and suspensions
are tightly regulated. This provides very competitive road racing
at a reasonable cost.
Why Race F500?
- Competition
- F500 had the
third highest participation level among the 26 national SCCA
classes in the Southeast Division in 2003.
- Low Cost
- Formula 500 is
one of the lowest-cost open wheel road racing classes in SCCA.
- Speed
- A F500 race car
will get you around the track quicker than the vast majority
of other SCCA classes—many of which cost significantly
more money to race.
- Simplicity
- F500’s ease
of operation makes it an excellent entry point for drivers
interested in experiencing the thrill of open wheel formula-class
racing.
